Embedded Software Industrial Automation

Embedded software industrial automation was the core focus at the SPS Italia 2026 exhibition in Parma, which has just concluded. Once again, the event confirmed how essential software has become for the sector. Therefore, the fair highlighted a clear direction: to be effective, industrial hardware now requires advanced, secure, and customized software development. In this context, our team spent three days engaging in technical discussions and strategic meetings.

What did we do for at SPS?

To begin with, our presence at the fair was a practical opportunity to connect with the current needs of hardware manufacturers and system integrators.

  • Technical Meetings: We visited our partners. Specifically, we discussed open projects directly with their R&D departments and technical teams.
  • Market Challenge Analysis: We analyzed the growing need for stronger firmware cybersecurity. In addition, we focused on how to integrate smoother, modern user interfaces (HMIs) into industrial machinery.
  • Hardware-Software Synergy: In short, we explained how dedicated software development can turn standard hardware into secure, dedicated solutions for specialized markets.

Our Core Topics in Embedded Software Industrial Automation

As a result of these interactions, we realized how much we can support companies with reliable embedded software industrial automation services. In fact, three specific areas of our work generated the most interest among the technical managers we met:

  1. Custom Operating Systems: Developing and optimizing embedded Linux distributions (using Yocto and Buildroot) and custom Android OS for industrial IoT devices.
  2. Next-Gen User Interfaces (HMIs): For instance, building functional interfaces with frameworks like Flutter and Qt to improve the user experience on machinery displays.
  3. Secure OTA Updates: Fleet management solutions that allow safe, automatic, and robust Over-The-Air firmware updates across distributed systems.

Ultimately, combining robust hardware with flexible open-source software is crucial to achieving real operational efficiency. Furthermore, we want to thank all the engineers and partners who shared their technical challenges with us. Meanwhile, we are already at work in our R&D labs to turn these ideas into concrete projects.
